A Parent's Guide to Enrolling Your Student Directly

Teachers do not need to set up SlopeFactor for your student to use it. Here is how parents can enroll directly using the Family Fast Lane.

A Parent's Guide to Enrolling Your Student Directly

SlopeFactor is available to Maryland students whether or not their school or teacher has set it up. Parents can enroll their student directly using the Family Fast Lane — a process designed to take less than five minutes and give parents full visibility into their student's practice.

What Family Fast Lane Is

Family Fast Lane is the parent-initiated enrollment path. It works alongside the school-initiated path — both result in the student having full access to the platform. The difference is who starts the process and how consent is collected.

When a parent enrolls through Family Fast Lane, they provide consent on behalf of their student. For students under 13, this consent is verified under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). For students 13 and older, consent is provided by the parent and acknowledged by the student.

Step-by-Step Enrollment

Step 1: Visit slopefactor.com/family Go to the Family Fast Lane page on slopefactor.com. This page is designed for parents — it explains what the platform does, what data is collected, and what parents agree to.

Step 2: Enter your student's information Provide your student's first name, last name, grade level, and school. You will also provide your own name and contact email. This information is used to create your student's account and to send you progress updates.

Step 3: Choose a consent method For students under 13, you will receive a consent confirmation email. Follow the link in that email to complete verifiable parental consent. For students 13 and older, you will be asked to confirm your consent on the page. Your student will receive a notice at their school email when they first sign in.

Step 4: Get confirmation After consent is complete, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions for your student's first sign-in. Your student signs in using their school-issued Google account — the same account they use for their school's Google Workspace. If your student does not have a school Google account, contact your school's technology coordinator.

What Data Is Collected and How It Is Protected

SlopeFactor collects the minimum data needed to provide the service: student name, grade, school, practice activity (which evidence statements were practiced, item responses, mission completion times), and progress metrics (readiness signals, streaks, points).

No data is sold. No data is used for advertising. No data is shared outside the platform. Student data is protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Maryland's Student Data Privacy Act. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

Parents who enrolled through Family Fast Lane can request to view, correct, or delete their student's data at any time by contacting info@25alpha.ai.

How Parents Can View Progress

After enrollment, parents can log in at slopefactor.com/family/dashboard using the email they provided during enrollment. The family dashboard shows:

  • Which evidence statements have been practiced
  • Overall readiness signals by category
  • Streak and mission completion history
  • Foundational skill screener results

The family dashboard is read-only. Parents can view progress but cannot modify the student's account settings or reset their data.

How to Revoke Access

Parents can revoke access at any time. From the family dashboard, select Account Settings, then Remove Access. This will deactivate the student's account within 24 hours. All student data will be deleted within 30 days of the deactivation request, per the platform's data retention policy.

If you have questions at any point in the process, email info@25alpha.ai. All inquiries receive a response within two business days.
